Become a Theological Student at Gammon

The Master of Divinity program accepts and evaluates applications as they are received. Students may enroll for classes in the eight-week session after receiving an official acceptance letter from Gammon Theological Seminary online.

Master of Divinity

Earning a Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree from Gammon Theological Seminary (GTS) means you’ve gained a deep understanding across various theological fields. It prepares you to fulfill a wide range of ministerial roles, equipping you with both intellectual and practical skills essential for religious leadership in various ministry contexts, both within and beyond church communities.

The areas of specialization of the MDiv degree are:  

  • Leadership & Ethics
  • Womanist Theological Perspective
  • Social Justice & Advocacy

Degree Requirements

Each candidate in the Master of Divinity, M.Div. program is required to complete 72 credit hours. Students intending to seek ordination in the United Methodist Church must complete 24 of those 72 credit hours from Religious Heritage courses offered at GTS and outlined in The Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church (2016). GTS students enrolled full-time and successfully completing 12 credit hours per semester can expect to complete the M. Div. program in 3 years.

Admissions Requirements

  • Online application for admission
  • Bachelor’s degree with minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Personal statement
  • College/University transcripts from all Colleges/Universities attended
  • A copy of your State or Federal ID
  • Two letters of recommendation from:
    • The leader of a ministry you worked in (either employed or volunteer positions) or your current pastor 
    • A former or current colleague or another personal reference

Official Transcripts sent through a transcript network may be sent to connect@gammon-itc.org.
Unofficial transcripts can be uploaded into the online admissions application system to demonstrate GPA until official transcripts are received.
