Assessment & Effectiveness at Gammon

Gammon Theological Seminary has an unwavering commitment to rigorous, research-based planning and evaluation. This commitment is embedded throughout the institution’s operational and strategic framework, provides assessment training, data support, and suggestions for best practices to personnel and committees throughout the seminary as directed by the Dean and executive leadership.

As the only Historically Black Theological Institution among the thirteen official theological schools of the United Methodist Church, Gammon holds a unique and vital responsibility to maintain high standards of institutional quality. Assessment data and reports are distributed to appropriate divisions throughout the seminary and collaborative partners based on executive leadership request and approval. Initiatives and their reviews are guided by Gammon’s mission, vision, and core values, ensuring that the institution and its activities remain directed towards its purpose of forming Christian leaders committed to justice, liberation, and service. Gammon engages in ongoing, comprehensive, and integrated processes of planning and evaluation, a standard expected and required by both its reporting obligations to the Annual Conferences and the General Board of Higher Education of The United Methodist Church (GBHEM).
