Gammon Theological Seminary
Gammon Theological Seminary is licensed by the Georgia Nonpublic Education Commission to operate as a graduate degree granting institution and is currently seeking accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS).
GTS is currently an “extended unit” of the Interdenominational Theological Center, and as a constituent member of the ITC who is accredited through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) has conferred degrees in partnership with the ITC for Gammon Theological Seminary graduates since 1959. Gammon Theological Seminary is currently seeking separate accreditation through SACSCOC and the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS).
The Southern Association of College and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) is an institutional accreditor for quality assurance in higher education. SACSCOC accredits institutions that award associate, baccalaureate, master’s, or doctoral degrees, including those offered via distance and correspondence education, and direct assessment within these institutions. It serves as the common denominator of shared values and practices among its members in the United States and international institutions of higher education approved by the SACSCOC Executive Council, Board of Trustees, and the Appeals Committee of the College Delegate Assembly.
Accreditation by SACSCOC signifies that the institution (1) has a mission appropriate to higher education, (2) has resources, programs, and services sufficient to accomplish and sustain that mission, and (3) maintains clearly specified educational objectives that are consistent with its mission and appropriate to the degrees its offers, and that indicate whether it is successful in achieving its stated objectives.

The Association of Theological Schools (ATS)
More than 270 graduate schools of theology in the United States and Canada form The Association of Theological Schools. Member schools conduct post-baccalaureate professional and academic degree programs to educate persons for the practice of ministry and for teaching and research in the theological disciplines. These schools differ from one another in deep and significant ways but, through their membership in ATS, they demonstrate a commitment to shared values about what constitutes good theological education.
ATS seeks to promote the improvement and enhancement of theological schools to the benefit of communities of faith and the broader public. The work of ATS fosters and supports innovation in theological schools and to strengthen the Association’s 100-year legacy of quality theological education.
